40K Rumors: 2012, The Way Ahead

Yet more talk on where 2012 will take us Warhammer 40,000 fanatics. Here's the latest from the rumormill.



via Straightsilver (who is nice and reliable)

- Q1-2 Necron and Tyranid 2nd waves

- Q2-3 6th edition with Dark Angels vs Chaos in the boxed set.

- Chaos Legions codex ~via multiple sources - said to be the first 6th Edition codex.

- Dark Angels codex ~contradictory, with other codices as a possibility in its place (Space Marines or Tau commonly named)

- No Eldar in 2012, still much to be done.

- Tau are still strong contenders for a full codex release, with many models finished and on ice for months now - but most probably 2013.

- Q4 this year will be dominated by the Hobbit so expect Q2 and Q3 to be 40K centric, but don't expect too much.

- Then Q1 2013 will be more Hobbit, Q2 2013 may see a new Codex but it's more likely to be wave releases, so if Eldar or Tau were coming I would say Q3

I guess the Orkses are scheduled for a Codex overhaul sometime near 2025???

Its time to take a deep breath, exhale and piece together what the rest of 2012 will look like from the best intel out there.



This list was assembled from all the little tidbits out there from all over the place, talk from trusted rumormongers, and studying Games Workshop's past release patterns. Here we go:

2012 Schedule
June: Flyers (you knew this already)
July : Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition Rulebook (and not a moment too soon)
August: Chaos Space Marines (fast on the heels of 6th, large minis release right at launch)
September: Warhammer 40,000 6th Boxed Set (CSM vs Dark Angels (a minority are holding out for Eldar))
October: Warriors of Chaos (Warhammer Fantasy, and explaining last year's "2012 is the year of Chaos" meme)
November: Hobbit (get ready for it)
December: Deals and Holiday bundles.
2013: Tau and Eldar (Tau are said to be early year, first out of the gate)

Did you hear the rumor that the Emperor told Guillimon to protect the Tau, since they weren't corruptible by Chaos? Apparently Space Marines and Tau are going to be close buddies

yuppers.....and and seen its none other than the Ultra Marines theirselves!!

WTF!, What are they doing? BA and Necrons and now SM and Tau. The Necron fluff was terrible and now possible this. What's it all coming too? Luckily for me while I generally like to read the fluff it can be dis-regarded easily enough for it really plays no part in the table top game portion of 40k.

Warmonger, there are persistent rumors that allies are back in 6th edition, and Space Marines and Tau are considered "Battle Brothers"! If they turn out to be true, we'll have Terminators fighting alongside of devilfish and firewarriors!

That link leads to a not found message. But I searched it out and found what the rumors are based on. It was a chart fr team tournaments. What armies partners could play. I find it highly skeptical. I did find it funny nids could not ally with anybody. GW just really hates the bugs.

Like I said bro...these are part of the rumored running around about 6th...as for the bugs.....why would they?? Nids are out for all out domination. Necrons you can at least sit down and have a cup of coffee with before they destroy you.



I agree with the Tau tho....I'm more curious on what this will lead us too....

More rumors from BoLS about 6th edition! Remember these are what they are....

RUMORED 6th Wound Allocation
Wounds inflicted upon a target unit must be applied in order of closest models, with the owning player getting to assign the individual hits as he sees fit within the legal models selected.

Example
If a 5 man unit suffers 3 wounds (say 2 bolters, and a lascannon), the owning player must assign them to the three models closest to the firing unit (get out your tape measures), but you can assign the lascannon hit to any of the three models who were closest.

Welp, this is really going to make you watch how you are placing your models!!

I haven't been through a major rules overhaul yet (I started in the beginning of 5th) so I am curious if I will be susceptible to nerd-rage when all my favorite units and tactics are wiped out... we will see!!

I agree that Nids should not ally (unless they are under your 'mind control' somehow - and they are your soldier ants - who would ally with them??!!)

Orks should be able to ally with almost anybody - but we have the option to attack our allies during the game if we think it would be funny.

Tau could use some allies. They would cultivate them, too. (I would play them with Marines!)

I am trying not to panic over all the rumors - I will say that if it becomes more like the new fantasy rules: I HATE random terrain that 'eats' your troops... geez. the universe in total war is dangerous enough! I hope it is not so randomized that it overshadows the tactics.

I've heard this also and a whole slew of other stuff but with 6th right around the corner I'm just waiting to see. Oh how far the Emperium has fallen to have to rely on the Tau to save them. For the Badass' they are supposed to be they just ain't living up to their reputation- on the table and now supposedly in the fluff

Yeah, I'm not taking stock until they actually announce the rules, but it's interesting. I hope they do allies just for the fact that I want to be able to do my Inquisitor/IG allies list that I used in 4th edition! My Hector Rex and retinue minis are just collecting dust

I don't have a problem with allies as I used Daemonhunters w/ my IG also. But at least that made sense. SM and Tau or Necrons and BA just don't no matter how you spin it.

Who would ally with the 'Crons? Makes no sense. Those guys are creepy.

I think that Orks maybe shouldn't ally either - but we should have access to anyone's equipment (that we can steal)...

To ally like this you kind of have to assume someone is 'in charge' (Like Demons controlling Nids telepathically, or humans hiring Ork mercenaries etc...)
