Terminators

Can a Terminater seargen be given the assualt cannon/cyclone/flamer or only one of the ordinary terminators?

I believe not, (although my codex is not at work with me) I believe the sargeant only gets to pick things from the armory, not the squad equipment list.

After reading the codex, this could go either way depending on how you interpret it.

because i modeled 4 terminators with storm bolters and powerfists and was planning on making the 5th with an assualt cannon, not realising that they had to have a seargent and the seargent had a power sword not a power fist

It's nice to have at least some attacks that aren't initiative 1, so I say break it apart and put the power weapon on one of them.

I've always read it as such:

Sergeant (so long as he has termi honours) can buy stuff from the armoury.

Squad (including sergeant) can take from their normal options. In fact, when I first started I gave the sergeant of one tactical squad a flamer. One terrible paintjob later and VIOLA! A sergeant that has almost no chance in Hell of killing anything at range, or in close combat. Still have the model around here somewhere...
