Best in Hobby Skills Showcase
A premiere event that will allow for top Hobbyist to compete for the ultimate Hobby Trophy at Gencon.
What is required: A display Board no bigger than 2’x2’. A Military Force consisting of minimum of 1 Leader and 2 Units. All models must be painted. Scores will be based on a rubric that will be available on our site. Judges from the MAGS (Mid American Gaming Series) along with a peer review will determine scores. Top score will take home the prize.
The fine Details:
Fantasy: Consist of but not limited to Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit ,Hordes, Kings of War, 9th Age, and Malifaux. Please contact for anything outside these categories for approval.
Sci-Fi: Consists of but not limited to Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer 30,000, Warmachine, Beyond The Gates of Antares, Infinity, and Starship Troopers. Please contact for anything outside these categories for approval.
15mm & Historical Miniatures: Consists of but not limited to Epic, Battle Fleet Gothic, Warmaster, Flames of War, Drop Zone Commander, 7 years War, and Field of Glory. Please contact for anything outside these categories for approval.
By registering for this event you agree to the following terms.
1.MAGS (Mid American Gaming Series) is not responsible for Accidental Loss, Damage, Pickup, Drop Off, Shipping of any models submitted.
2. You give consent to MAGS to use your name and any pictures taken on our Social Media Pages, Websites, or publications.
3. You are responsible for timely drop off and setup and removal at the designated times.
The Army with the highest total Points wins. In Case of a tie then a recount of straight up voting yes or no of remaining judges.
Judge each Army on the following guidelines:
Initial Overall impression:
0=There is at least one unfinished Model
10=The army is fully painted but only to the most basic of tournament standards.
15=the army is fully painted with the obvious effort put into detailing
Display Base:
0= Rubber maid lid or piece of foam
1=Basic, just one flock
2=Multiple flock painted highlights, Framed Edge
4=As above but with terrain features
6=Intricate Diorama that "Wows" you
Model Basing:
0= Bare Plastic Bases
1= Basic Flock no paint
2=Multiple flock or painted
4= Multiple flock or painted with clean edges
6=Diorama Like Bases with high attention to detail
Conversions:
0=No conversions
1=Minimal Head swaps/ arm swaps
2=Minor Units have multi kit conversions
4= Major The army has some difficult conversions
6=Extreme The army has some extreme conversions
Advanced Skills:
0=No Advanced Techniques
2=The models have a base coat with a shade and a highlight color
4=The models have been shaded using layering with highlights or blending
6=The models have been shaded using seamless Blending
Exceptional Extra:
0=No Extras
2=The army has some rough freehand work unit markings etc...
4= The army has quality transfer work and clean unit markings and or vehicle weathering
6=The army has stellar freehand detail work and clean unit markings and or vehicle weathering
