| Could be 1 in the 1st ravenwing squadron (worst option)
A 2 vehicle squadron (mid option)
2 seperate FA slots (best option).
I'm torn as to whether I should include them or not.
As of right now, most enemies (ones that dont stand and shoot) will have to hit me in the softest and most easily assaulted spot, which is my devs. With this knowledge I can set up the counter attack accordingly. Losing one of my dev sqds leaves me with less soft spot, and thus less reason for the enemy to move into my fire lanes.
Plus, not sure which i prefer 2 asscannons + 2 hvy bolters on skimmers or 4 hvy bolters + 6 ablative wounds.

| What was the rational behind the flamers? Plasmas are too risky for such an expensive model and you don't like meltas? I personally enjoy the ability of the melta to either pop vehicles or put a wound or two on a MC before assault. It is definitely unorthodox, it will be interesting to see what lists you end up facing. Be sure and let us know. Your highest strength is Str 8, which may be an issue if you run up against any land raiders or monoliths. | |

| Yeah, when it comes to AV 14, i plan to ignore. Or asscannon it if I have no other targets. Besides, Lascannons cost an extra 10 points a piece, but are only 1 more strength, so AV14 is going to be a bitch either way.
As far as the flamers go, I run meltas on the attack bikes, and have never really enjoyed sending my bikers tank hunting (the AB's do that if needed). If the bikers do need to get in close, its normally with troops of some kind.
I'm open to argument when it comes to the flamers though (not that the models can change right now)...

| Well if you do the math hammer and assume T4 3+ armor, the melta does .556 wounds per shot. The flamer varies depending on how many hits you think you'll get. If it's 3 on average then you get .495 wounds, 4 on average gives .66 wounds. Personally I find the melta more versatile. I also love instant killing crisis suits and stranded ICs. Obviously the flamer is real nice against a horde army like nids or orks or guard. Well, I doubt playing guard at a tourny is much of a concern. I fear how you will do against the zilla portion of the nid zilla. That's why I like the meltas. Do you have time to playtest the difference at all? | |

| Just from what I've played the flamer feels better. Granted, math-wise it isn't as powerful as the melta against MEQ, but a flamer vs. Orks/nids/eldar... yes please! Against nidZilla I won't be getting close enough to use flamers or meltas anyway, so i'd rather have teh flamers for the stealers IF i need them... I'm pretty screwed against nidZilla either way, I will have to play objective denial (and hope the missions is on my side... say, patrol ) My thinking is, the only time i would use either weapons is just prior to an assault, so I know I will be able to get the templates good coverage. oh and the flamers will work wonders on harlies As for the setup, pretty regular, standard missons/standard rouge trader missions (slanted setup etc) and 1750 games. A few of the guys are top 20 ranking players from the GT scenes. | |

| Looks like a pretty solid list. What else will the Libbie be doing? Sitting by the Devs to look pretty? Some of his powers (Hellfire in particular (John can you math hammer this? Str. 2d6 -2, AP d6 range: template)) can be devastating when he gets close. Or will you be using him as a semi-counter unit when/if someone hits your Devs? | |

| Semi counter, as I will not always have my other units around to do it. More as a deterrence to enemies. Really, he only exists in the list to provide the hood. I wish i could use a regular marine libby actually... but alas...
I could always run this list as Be as swift as the wind (I'll toy with this tonight). Basic idea is, drop the devs to 8 man, drop sammael and add more speeders with the extra points. I'll need to hit portions of the enemy hard to prevent return fire (all of which is bad when you are running so few models and only armor 10)

| If it turns up that you can do that, see how many points you have to spare. | |
