| Contrary to belief, Nathan is writing this Battle Report.
Forces (never changed through three combat patrols):
Nathan; Dark Angels; 5 Marines, PF, meltagun 5 scouts, sniper rifles 5 Comp. Vets, PF, meltagun, dedicated Rhino (bare-bones)
Danny: Orks; 10 boyz, PC, Rokit Launcha 3 Nobz 12 Stormboyz, Boss Zagstruck (evil bastard)
Game 1: After reading through some ork rules and figuring out that Danny could not take the Shock-Attack-Gun (hereby to be proclaimed S.A.G.) because it is an ordinance weapon (and it would have raped all three games) we got things moving. Scouts and Marines deployed in cover, Vets behind Rhino. Danny's boyz were deployed in the open, his Nobz behind cover where my Marines could not see him (but my Infiltrating scouts could). The game ended by turn three with a forfiet from Danny b/c Zagstruck and company Deep Struck into the middle of my Scout Squad and were picked off as they hit the ground (fluffy). Otherwise, it was moving forward for Danny slowly trying to get in charge range.
Game 2: (Danny's revenge) Basic same deployment. Danny got first turn and moved forward. My men shot some of his guys to death (the scouts were useful for this). I got the charge on his boyz with my vets, and only 1/3 of my attacks hit, with an even worse ratio to wound (I think I only killed one boy), then Danny hit back and killed 3 Vets (stupid power klaw). I lost, failed my morale check with a 10, could not escape, became fearless and lost a marine to the only save I had to take for outnumbering. The Rhino got immobolized at some point for moving through difficult terrain and spen the rest of the game shooting at Danny's guys. Zagstruck came down, and with some discussion (argue with me later) we decided that Zagstruck was affected by Danny's call of Waaaaaagh! So Zagstruck got the charge on my marines as well as Danny's nobz. A few combat turns later and my scouts were left (and died 1 combat phase after). Then it was 4 ork boyz(PC, rokit launcha), 3 nobs, and zagstruck vs. my (immobolized) Rhino. I lost rather quickly after that. Game ended turn 5.
Game 3: Almost same setup. I got first turn again and moved forward. Danny moved forward (lost some boyz to my shooting), did nothing. I moved closer, got Vets out of Rhino, hung back. Danny moved called Waaaagh! didn't get into charge range of my Vets (or scouts who were hanging out in the area) so charged my Rhino. But his Nobz did hit my Marines (who were in cover). My marines killed a Nob, then the remaining nobz killed two Marines, then my powerfist squishified the Nobs. Massacred into cover better. Danny's boyz destroyed my Rhino. Turn 3 my Vets got the charge on Danny's Boyz, did better, hit 2/3 times, wounded decently, lost one to powerfist, then wiped out the unit. Massacred into the cover of wrecked Rhino. Zagstruck came down, scattered out of assault range of anything. Charged in with my Marines, moved Scouts and Vets closer to Zagstruck and co. Combat: killed two Stormiez, Stormiez killed one Marine. Danny's turn: PF killed one Stormie, Stormiez killed PF's last ablative wound. My turn: Everything else charged in. Needless to say, the outnumbered and outattacked boyz died a choppy and chainswordy death. Zagstruck is evil on the charge. | |

| Thanks for the write up! We really do need to get a combat patrol tournament going... I have a few extra machines I found somewhere if anyone wants them (capture the flag style games). Tough luck on the deepstrike into the scouts | |

| Me and Mack decided to do a stupid thing. He made a Deathwing list, and I made a drop pod list w/ one tank that came in due to escalation. All of my stuff was on and in defensive positions by turn 3, none of his stuff came on board until turn 4, where it was all taken apart piecemeal. Shortest 1500 pt game I've ever played. | |
