Gen Con Trip 2009 - I need a vacation from my vacation.

Wow... What a fun 4.5 days this year.

I personally had a blast.

Wed
Arrived 3pm
Set up for Uncharted Seas Demos
Said hi to all the crew.
Dinner at St. Elmos
Went to check out some Malifaux Demos ( www.wyrd-games.net ) but we were kicked outta the Hyatt.
Ended up at the Ram brew pub until 12:30. Danny was promptly tossed from the bar for being under 21. (get used to it my friend).

Thursday wake up 6am (5 hours sleep)
8 am to Noon. Ran Uncharted Seas Demos. All full with many generics wanting a piece of the action. Noon to 2. Lunch with Matt Hearst who came from Maine to check out the con. Can't tell you how good it was to see him again after a year away.
2pm to 5pm - Convention Hall shopping. Biggest splash in the minis world was Malifaux. Booth was busy, the art, figs and rulebook presented were top notch. I gotta say the layout was worth the wait to launch the game correctly.
6pm to 2am - Warhammer 40K 750pt tournament. Had a blast and went 3-0-1 to take 2nd place outta 20+ competitors with a Necron list. Good scenarios all around. I think my focus on Scenario objectives helped me do well. Example in the first game I was down to 6 Necron warriors (5 for phase out) vs. 40 Orks left but pulled out the VP win.
2am to 3am - White Castle ... (WTF was I thinking)

Friday Wake up at 6:30 am (3 hours sleep)
8am to 11am. More Uncharted Seas demos. First one of the day had 8 generics waiting on 4 sold out spots.
11 am to 12 pm dealer hall
1pm - quickly drop the idea of the infinity tournament b/c I couldn't visually tell the difference between a Vector a Void operator. Realizing it had been way to long since I played, I gracefully bowed out since I was an odd number anyways.
1pm to 4pm - assembly of Malifaux figs
4pm to 6pm - early dinner at the Alcatrax brewing company. Food was mediocre at best. Downtown Indy goes insane with a preseason football game and Gen Con all inside a .5 mile square radius.
8pm to 10 pm - Walk through of Malifaux. Good game, fun mechanics. Sleep deprivation starts to kick in..
10pm to 1am - 4 man Uncharted Seas with Dewen, Gotrex, Danny and myself all with a starter box. An epic ending to fun game with Dave's Dragon Lord battleship experiencing a magazine explosion. Leaving a whole in the gaming table and all of the other forces. John and Danny's orcs concede the loss.
1 am to 1:45 set up as much Uncharted for the tournament as possible.
1:50 to 3am. Close down the Ram. Consider getting a growler to go... Sanity breaches the exhaustion and I leave with no additional beer.

Saturday Wake up 6:30 am (3 hours of sleep)
7:30 to 9 set up for the Uncharted Seas tournament
9 to 3:15 - 8 man Uncharted Seas tournament. Good time. I thought the scenarios were good. Awared first place to dboeren with his Bone Griffon fleet
3:30 to 4pm Lunch with my brother.
4pm to 5pm shop for the kiddos in the dealer room
5:30pm to 8 pm: Nap... YEA
9:00 pm to 10:30- Dinner at Paliminos
10:30 pm to 1:30 am - Malifaux games. Really like these mechanics and game. Seems like it is full of win.
1:30 to 2:43a... Is it really F'in 2:43 when I walk outta the WILD BEAVER Saloon. Think Canadian Coyote Ugly.

Sunday Wake up 6:30 am (3.5 hours of sleep)
7a to 7:30 pack and set up the car
8am to 9am Uncharted Seas Demos
9am to 11:15a - 3 way Uncharted Seas game.
11:30a depart Gen Con
