| So...It's really not part of the space marine force but he will be in a support roll. Busted out the Airbrush for a big run on him. I really feel like I'm getting better at using it but it really is only my second go using it. I base coated black with Krylon...then I found this metallic paint at micheal's. Also a spray. It is darker then a silver and somewhere between boltgun metal and chainmail. I really like the color. The plates above the toes have no airbrushing so you can get a good idea of the natural color. Would make doing a bunch of Iron Snakes way easy. Next I airbrushed a mix of grey and black. Followed by some green/brown/grey mix. Still a lot of work to be done on the big guy but I feel like I've made some progress. I'm really interested in what y'all think of the airbrushing so far. |

| Really nice, cannot wait to see it dones. Have you thought of basing it? It does make it a tiny bit harder to game with, but I have seen some amazing titan bases (so much room to work with!)
I am also interested to hear a name for your chapter.
I was thinking they could be a Raven Guard successor chapter. As their symbol is similar to the mentors (and also the raptors).
Perhaps something as simple as the Falcons.
Emperors Talons
Emperors Falcons
Talons of Terra (I actually like the cheesy alliteration in this one) | |

| I'm was leaning to Imperial Harriers or Crimson Harriers,
...But I still love "Sh*t Consuls". It'll be hard not to call them that. |

The buyers remorse on a titan has to be pretty epic! There is a guy that posted all the parts on Bolter and CS (WIP board) when he received his box. It'll make you think twice. The model is WAY cool but it is definetly a big boy model. I mean...it took almost 4 hours for cleaning/sanding and another 6 or so on assembly even in pieces for painting. Razor saw, cutting parts to fit etc. So I'm assuming it will take a total of about 40 hours or so. |

| I wouldn't do an Eldar titan on commission. It just would be too much personal work.
When it comes to large projects it really is easier to do it for yourself. It becomes a little nerve racking if someone is paying you $15 an hour to paint a figure to a high standard (40 to 60 hours).
It is just tough to deliver the expectation that the consumer demands when they are paying out that kinda $$.
Thanks for the comments guys. |

| So...after 60 days picking the boys back up. Still have a couple things to finish for the fantasy tournament but I wanted to dig into the Spear head. Here are the WIP. The drop pod only has the browns finished. The reds and whites have a few more layes. Then decals and weathering. Even with going fast the linining of the DP took a long time. A lot of surface area to hit. I'd seriously consider drybrushing my next one. I glued this one up so no interior photos. Don't really see a reason for "game play" to leave the doors open (with exception of showing the type of armament). The thunderhammer has the metals mostly done. I'll be working on the shell and the techmarine. Last is Pedro Kantor. I removed the Imperial fist logos. I really like the model and rules so I might run him in my army. |

| John, I just wanted to make sure you did know that you can run the unique figs in your army regardless. They said it's akin to a lone commander/character being a survivor and attaching himself to another chapter while keeping his colors, or somethin like that. | |

Yep. I actually read that in the new WD although I couldn't find the permission in the codex. What I'm understanding is that if you use the Space Marine codex you are building a "Codex" chapter and therefor follow the book as outlined. What I read on the inclusion of the unique figures is that these character "archetypes" exist in any chapter so it isn't that you are fielding "pedro kantor" but an figure with identical qualities but just a different path of origin which fits your chapter. |
