Number of attacks and CCW Empty
PostSubject: Number of attacks and CCW   Number of attacks and CCW EmptyFri Oct 05, 2007 10:54 am

Fellows,

For the veteran sergeant entry in the Dark Angels' Codex specifically, does his 2 attacks assume that he's got a bolt pistol and CCW? or does giving him the CCW add another attack, giving him 3?

Does my sergeant have to have a bolt pistol and ccw? Can I take a tactical bolter dude, add some gold trim or something, and call him the vet sergeant? I'm thinking for a shootier squad I'd rather he had a bolter than a pistol (for the range.) He'd have two close combat attacks with a bolter, instead of three with the pistol and CCW?

I guess the "in general" question is, what gear does the statline of a model assume it has? Armor, obviously, is taken into consideration.

The stat line does not include the weapons (unless otherwise stated in the description of a particular unit).

So you are correct, 3 with BP + CCW and 2 with a boltgun.

They all come with a bolt pistol now anyway, and all models (yes including the srg) come with a bolter.

The sergeant can then replace the bolter with a chainsword, power weapon, or power fist. Giving him the extra attack from having two close combat weapons.

Yep, what Matt says is right. An example where the weapons are counted in the attacks are the 3rd edition Chaos Codex Daemonettes. They had 2+1 attacks (+1 for their claws or whatever).
