| I worked the past few shifts and the kids had some friends overnight. PS3 was worked to the core it seems and apparently left on.. blasted brood..
So now the Dag gone thing won't come on. It wants to, it really does.. but once its about to start it flashes red and shuts herself down. I think after a dozen failed attempts I'll take it to the boards..
..so whats up with my PS3 peeps?

| Sounds to me like it might have overheated.... If it did, you could have anything from a blown power supply to blown resistors/capacitors or even processor or memory damage.
Though, if it's in an enclosed space, try taking it out and starting it back up. If that works, you may just need to not put it back into the cabinet or whatever it was in.

| Marc, I own both machines and I can honestly tell you.. repair the PS3. The Xbox is a piece of $hit when it comes to death (Microsoft has had to send me two as mine have all been crap) If the PS3 death frustrates you, your in for it w an Xbox. Dayth just sold his as he plays only his PS3 now. I'm sure I've opened a huge debate can, but IMO fix the PS3 | |

| Not really a war when the PS3 is just sooooooooo much better than the XBOX! Honestly I really do not have anything against XBOX, I just prefer the PS3. I fully concede the smoother "play" on the XBOX. And to a lot of people a better game selection (only title I want that Xbox has that PS3 doesn't is bloodbowl ). I just prefer: Free Online Play Controllers fit better in my hands Final Fantasy Series (Which for some Godawful reason they let that go to others) Web browser...Not sure if XBOX got one yet. Although PS3 did nerf having Windows installed onthe PS3 Better Reliability (which is eh but still better) And need I mention Blu Ray!!!! And yes it really makes a huge difference! | |

| I say better online play at this point is iffy at best. I was playin COD MW2 on my xbox yesterday and today and it is plagued with the same issues as PSN online play not to mention there are a ridiculous amount on hacks that I saw in the Xbox version was ridiculous

| I own both and actually prefer my Xbox 360. Most likely it is because I had a xbox for years before I got the PS3 and am use to how the controller feels. The PS3 controller feels too small. There have only been 3 games that I could get o PS3 and not on xbox, and a lot more than that for xbox and not the PS3. I still love both, play and use both. My surround sound is hooked up through my PS3 so I can watch movies, definately a step up from anything Xbox has. But still, if I have a choice, I order games for the xbox 360. | |

Unless I miss read that, both those games are still console exclusives. But to be honest now. I had a PS3 for a little bit but I prefer xbox over it. It was a good console it just isn't for me. I grew up playing on the original xbox until I got my 360. It's all opinion. But I would never love not being able to play Gears 3 or Halo Reach.

| I agree... I played the Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta, and I can't WAIT for it to come out I've played Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo Wars so far and even have the Halo Legends DVD Both Mass Effects were awesome, and I loved Dragon Age as well. Some of the games on PS3 are cool, but they've never held enough interest for me to want to spend the extra cash to get one.... | |

| For me the Decision was simple.
Twisted Metal, Ratchet & Clank, God of War, and a BluRay player.
I'll get a 360 some day, when I feel they are more reliable.

| XBOX consistently horrid reliability, PS3 not great but about twice as good, still above industry standard though as far as % it should be at. Acording to these surveys, wish i could find something more official and more up to date. - Quote :
- Independent review site, NoFussReviews conducted a survey of over 500,000 game console owners to look into the failure rate of their consoles. Here are some interesting revelations
Percentage consoles that were repaired or replaced XBox 360 : 42% PS3 : 8% Wii : <1%
Percentage consoles repaired replaced more than once (among those who answered Yes) XBox 360 : 55% PS3 : 12% Wii : 0%
Repaired more than two times XBox 360 : 39% PS3 : 8% Wii : 0%
Repaired more than five times Xbox 360 : 3% PS3 : 1% Wii : 0% And - Quote :
- Hot on the heels of a controversial Game Informer survey comes a new study that also pegs the Xbox 360 as the least reliable console on the market. Electronics-warranty company SquareTrade has issued a survey of 16,000 game consoles it serviced from the second quarter of 2007 to the first quarter of 2009. The report analyzed approximately 2,500 PlayStation 3s, 2,500 Xbox 360s and 11,000 Wiis selected at random. (The company found Wii owners much more likely to buy warranties.) All consoles had been purchased new and had not been damaged by their owners.
As with the Game Informer study, SquareTrade found that the Xbox 360's failure rate was far higher than its rivals. Some 23.7 percent of those surveyed failed within two years of purchase: 12 percent from the infamous "Red Ring of Death" and 11.7 percent from other problems, including the "E74" error. Both problems are covered by the 360's three-year manufacturer's warranty, which the company began offering in 2007 for a cost of over $1 billion.
Historically, the 360 is more than twice as likely to fail as its rivals.
By contrast, the study found 10 percent of PlayStation 3s surveyed failed within two years of purchase, as did 2.7 percent of Wiis. However, SquareTrade pointed out an April survey by media-research firm Nielsen that concluded the Wii is the least played of the three major consoles, being used for only 516 minutes per month. By contrast, the Xbox 360 is played over twice as much (1,191 minutes per month), with the PS3 lagging slightly behind it (1,053 minutes per month).

| my xbox failed once, then didn't start up when I got it back. besides that, it never failed again over it's life span. My son has it now and it is still working fine for him. I own cats, cats are rough on electronics. | |
