I will post a picture of what i have done so far , hopefully later tonight. However, regarding the painting, what would be a good second color. I was thinking maybe an orange blue or green, but i was wandering what the "professional" opinion was.

What is their scheme? If going with the actual chapter I would copy their scheme (kind of forgot what you were doing).

Either way, we can probably say what would look good once you get the picture up. Glad to hear you've made progress.

GW only has a i think, 3 models that i have seen pictures of. They are all black with grey blades on their arms and a white dragon head on the left shoulder. Nathan can correct me if i am wrong since he has the chapter approved book, but i do not do not believe their fluff in this department goes into too much detial, aside from their insignia and dominant color motif. The also onle displayed one or two basic marines with this article. So far i have the black and dragon insignia staying, however, the "fore arm protrusions" are going to be painted in a bone color. The robes on the death company, i am leaning toward brown or grey. I know you really need to see it to give feedback, but my camera is messed up and i haven't had time to get painting yet. I will post pictures as soon as i overcome the technical difficulties. until then if you guys can think of anything.

I would stay away from brown on the robes, next to black it will look poor on the table top. Go with a lighter color for some more contrast. Perhaps a white that is then inked back down with a Grey.

Rob, here's the (important) fluff from the book:

But the Ossmodula zygote of the Black Dragons functions in an abnormal way causing the growth of bony crests on the head, and blade-like protuberances from the forearm and elbow. Like the Death Company of the Blood Angels, warriors inflicted with such abnormal developments are formed into a separate fighting unit. Known as the Dragon Claws, they sharpen these additional protrusions to a killing edge, and sheath them in adamantium to turn them into deadly close combat weapons.

What they look like can be found here: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/extras/cursedchapters/2.htm.

Hope this helps, can't wait to see them when they're done.

indeed, but that is a project for a later date. I get bored quickly and i played tau for years. On that same note, this project has been in the works for some time now and at the moment i am on a role. If i let the momentum dwindle it will get backshelved, and i am trying to have it tournament ready by the summer.

Back on topic, do you gus think that a 4,1 Black, brown base on the armour Drysponged over with a 3,2 Brown,Red/orange and then highlighted with brown and tan would achieve the desired effect?

That seems a bit much... I'd try a metal base (boltgun) then go over with chestnut ink, then with layers of thinned down black or black ink to get to the right level.

Might give you more control.

Anyone else got ideas?

yeah like matt said i'd start w/ a dark metalic such as boltgun or even boltgun w/ black mixed in then wash over it with some thinned blackthen highlight back up. keep doing that until you reached the desired color then i'd maybe add a bit of grime affect using brown ink maybe. post them alraedy i wanna see em.
