Wow, I reached for the sky and didn't get past the trees when it came to trying to paint the glow off the orb. I stripped the Lord and tried again only to realize it's beyond my painting skills to accomplish. So I went a different route and just painted the Lord to my paint scheme that the whole army will have. I'll leave the advanced techniques to guys like Toren Hamre and J Gemich. Anyway here's the new pics. Thanks again to Mike Leon for bringing the Necron Lord as his contribution to the prize table at DBCC and the first fig of my Necron army... when the new 'dex comes out of course.

Much better Smile that glowing effect seems to be pretty tricky to achieve.

I think I saw your glowing one yesterday for a brief period on my handheld device.

I thought is was a good start. The issue was that the contrast between the metal wasn't deep enough. You'd have to go w/ a very dark metal to pull the blue off you used. But hey, even I don't try OSL (oriented source lighting).

This looks very solid. Great job.

My thought would be maybe start off with only doing the glow on the hand/forearm. It would give you a bit of contrast, but you wouldn't have it overpowering the rest of the model. Just a thought though!

I do like the looks of it now, though, so I would think you'd be ok with it as is. Smile
