So I've been given the opportunity to paint a fellow CAGers Eldar. I guess John is too busy these days Wink I'm looking forward to it as for one, I have never painted Eldar and secondly I have never painted a dominant black army. Following the well scribed paint scheme directives handed over I give you step 1ish on a squad of Guardians. Huzzah!

Eldar Painting Blog: May 16th - THE END Guardians1

Well, gotta start somewhere.
Anyways, even these basic Troops have all sorts of mesh plates and bits that I'm hoping Mr Eldar has patience Wink

Also, for you "painting black experts" I'm curious as to how you go about making sure black is black and not grey. The platform looks like it may go to grey if I carry on, no? Continue and then wash black? Looks good as is and go on?

Frackin' Orks are sucking my will to live. Actually I've got one more piece to clear my painting pipeline then it's back to my Space Marines and stuff for GenCon.

Man those look great. Funny, they are the exact same color scheme as the tau army I am currently working on. I think the black looks great, maybe a fortress grey 2nd highlight on the sharpest points.

I'll be finishing up the squad by tomorrow and then I'll tackle a squad of Banshees. Really looking forward to giving those a crack. Stay tuned Very Happy

So after the distraction of some new shiny book I have these 8 about 90% complete. Some touch ups and "Aspect" markings and we're good. Still to complete the heavy weapon platform and all the magnetized options.

WARNING: Another Marc Freehand Attempt Laughing

Staying the scheme course laid by Mr Eldar here we have a WiP of the Heavy Weapons platform. The serpent is a fav of his plus some typical fancy Eldar "lines" ..may have to wait until Monday to finish the white plus the gunner, etc..

I really need to build/get a photo box Sad

I like the freehand. Are you going to black line around to define the areas a bit more?

Good scheme.

I think you should hit those rocks with some color, maybe just a highlight... help them pop off the base more (you did say WIP, so you might be doing this already.)

Looking good though.

Had a late start today due to a power outage, but all that remains are the last steps on the bases and the individual "aspect" markings on the helmet and we're finally moving on to the Banshees.

Those look really good. I will soon be working on my skaven soon. But these have inspired me to go back over my tau and redo them in not such metallic colors.

Well, its not a Titan.. Laughing

..but here is a completed squad pic. Pretty happy how they turned out seeing it was my first doing dominant black as well painting minis from the Eldar range. First go using snow as well. Took longer than I thought as I had to feel my way through. Oh.. and then there was that 5th edition book release Embarassed Another batch of Guardians would go quicker.

Banshees next as soon as I get approval from Mr Eldar on my scheme.

Hey, what size base is the heavy weapons platform and guy on? I'm having a hard time fitting at and it's operator on the medium size base. Also, did you chop the little stick on the bottom off to get it to sit down on the base?
