PostSubject: Ironman 2011 - Tournament Rules   Ironman 2011 - Tournament Rules EmptyMon May 02, 2011 9:59 pm

What is the "Ironman" Tournament?

  • The Ironman will be a year long tournament using the Warmachine and Hordes game systems.
  • It will be 6 individual events with 5 different formats played throughout the year at our local supporting game stores along with CAG Bash '11 and CincyCon.
  • Players will score Event Points based on their ranking in each tournament they participate in. These points will be added to their yearly "Overall Score".
  • Additional Performance Points will be awarded for objectives in scenarios (Control Points) and also event specific tasks. Painted armies will also earn points that will add to a players Overall Score.
  • 1st and 2nd place prizes will be handed out at each event along with other various swag.
  • The player with the highest Overall Score at the end of the sixth event will win the "Ironman Prize Package" along with knowing they are the grittiest Badass around.
  • There will also be "Headhunter", "Command and Conquer", and "Chop Shop" trophies handed out at the end of the year. How do you get one of these? Keep reading.

The Rules:

  • We will be using the "Steamroller 2011 Official Rules".
  • To keep scoring even throughout the year ALL events will be a fixed 4 rounds.
  • Event Tiebreaks are listed below. Due to the unique nature of individual event they may have their own tie-break rules.

Primary
- The player who has the most Control Points throughout the event wins. If both players have the same number of control points, check the tertiary tiebreaker to determine the event winner.

Secondary - Strength of Schedule will be used. In the case of two players with the same score, determine which one ranks higher by adding the Battle Points of all of the opponents that each player faced over the previous rounds. The player whose opponents have the highest total score had the stronger schedule and earns the higher rank. If this number is the same for both players, check the secondary tiebreaker to determine the event winner.

Tertiary - The player who has the most Warcaster and Warlock kills throughout the event wins.

  • Tiebreaks for the Overall Scoring for the year are listed below.

Tertiary - The player who has killed the most Warcasters and Warlocks for the year wins the tournament.

Schedule:

Scoring:

  • Event Scoring - Will use the standard Steamroller scoring system.
  • Overall Scoring - The system below will be used for the yearly scoring of players.

During each event a player will score points based on the Steamroller standard scoring system. How a player ranks in these individual events directly effect their overall scoring for the year. There are 2 extra scoring terms that will be used for this tournament. First is Performance Points. Performance Points are a players points gained from any bonus scoring points provided during a individual event. Each events Performance Points will then be added together to get a players Overall Score. The Overall Score will be used in determining the Ironman 2011 Tournament winner.

Scoring Break-Down:

Event Ranking:

  • 1st Place - 10 points
  • 2nd Place - 8 Points
  • 3rd Place - 6 Points
  • 4th Place - 4 Points
  • Everyone else - 2 Points

Performance Points: Control Points

  • Control Points captured during a game - 1 Point/ea.
  • Event specific

Performance Points: Painting

  • Painted Army - 2 Points

*To gain painting points every model in the armies used during a event must be to the "Basic Painting Requirements" on page 22 of the Steamroller rules.

Example of scoring - A player ranked 3rd for the event would gain 6 points. Having gained 5 Performance Points during the four rounds would add another 5 points. If their army was painted that is another 2 points. So the "Event Score" would be 13pts.

Over the course of the year if a player attends all the events they will have six individual Event scores that make up their Overall score.

Cost - $12/event1

Tournament Cap - 20 people

*Due to the size of some venues the tournament will be capped at 20 people for each event.

Registration for a event will open up 30 days before the posted date. For every event after the first there will be five Pre-Registration Days added to the standard registration for the people that played in the previous round. This is only open to the players who played in the round immediately before of the current upcoming event.

*Ex, if you played in Event 1 you are eligible for the Event 2 pre-registration. If you played in Event 1 and then skipped Round 2 you will only be able to register 30 days in advance and will not qualify for the extra 5 days of pre-registration for Round 3.

Don't let all your hard fought battles go to waste. Pre-Register and secure your spot in every event before someone else claims your table space.

To register for a event held at a store you can pay at that participating store, or you can use the Paypal button that will be available with each individual event posting here on these forums. For non-store events players can pay via Paypal.

Individual Event Rules:

The rules for each individual events will have its own topic and will be posted during the week following the previous event.

1 - There are additional costs for these events due to the venue they are being held at (Cincy Con $5.00).
2 - Credit earned at non-store events will forwarded to a participating store. (Cincy Con - EGC)

I think I have covered all my bases. This is a big undertaking and hopefully with the help I have put in place and a great community this will be the start of a new tradition.

If you have any questions feel free to post here or PM and I will answer any questions.

Thanks, Chad - Cincinnati Arsenal Gaming
