Imperial Fists?

WTF!!!! ok getting a bit frustrated... How, if possible can I get my Marines painted Imperial Fist Yellow in 3 layers or less? I have the Entire 2nd company all but a few models left for the 1st company and most of 8th and 9th company... Needless to say i have a ton o models to get painted and I don't want to invest more than 3 layers for the Marines so any tricks?

What I have Tried thus far... Yes I am lazy!

Black Base w/ 1. Iyaden Yellow Foundation 2. Sunburst Yellow 3. Bad moon yellow

Bleached bone base w/ Iyaden Yellow Foundation 2. Sunburst Yellow 3. Bad moon yellow

Skull White Base Iyaden Yellow Foundation 2. Sunburst Yellow 3. Bad moon yellow OMG bad...

so any thoughts? Help!

painting from a black or white basecoat will probably take more than 3 layers.

however, you might want to try a yellow basecoat. then try your shading and build up from there.

I've used this technique with red and it seems to work alright. it requires many less layers to get a bright, even appearance.

I only have the Chaos Black and Skull White Primers, I am not a big fan of brushing a base on so it will have to be a spray for basing. I did get one suggestion for basing black and going to Vomit Brown then Bleached bone, on up to yellow which was better than what I had before but still not great I have just applied the 5th coat and wow I still have to find a quicker way though.

Do you know a good Yellow Base coat spray?

You beg Gemrich to let you come over and use his spray gun and put the Iyanden Darksun in there

I just use normal Krylon spray paint to base, but yellow would only come in at best semi-gloss. after a good coat its hard to tell it was glossy.

I've had mixed results using an airbrush to basecoat, especially with metal models.

Go Tamiya. It is a finer spray pattern so as not to hide details. I don't recommend anything that will return gloss or semi gloss. Glosses tend give inks and shades difficulty in holding on the figure.

Then Shade coat.

You can acutally shade directly over white primer to get yellow look.

AVOID BLACK....

I always recommend stealing the ideas of those that came before you though....
