Bloodbowl League

Bloodbowl time nearly upon us so here is what you need to know.

$10 Entry to the league.
You Begin with 1,000,000gp to build your team.

Please come up with an original name for your team, a play on a current NFL team is great but not necessary. ie The New Orc Jets... All team names are subject to screening.

Player names are a bonus but not necessary.

I need a logo for your team. Please make a logo on a helmet and a banner, I will try to use them online. You can try this: http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/ncaafootball/create_a_school#/home
I would like a little history as to why your team is worthy of the CAG Bowl League! Just enough to fit on an index card, after that I start dozing off.

Team Names, Logos, stats, events, and team photos will be published online.

The team does not require paint, but those that are painted will receive
bonuses.

If we have less than 16 participants then I will allow a running of a
second team if desired. (the teams must be in different conferences and can
never play each other, also no trading may take place between these teams.)

The CAG League will consist of 2 conferences (west & east) with 3 Divisions
each with a max of 5 teams each.

A schedule will be posted no later than Aug 21st. You are responsible to
determine with your opponent when you will play the scheduled games, and
can be played any time at participating stores. EGC or UU&A.
Stats and roster sheets will be collected after each game by the
participating stores. I will try to collect them and update the leaders
board weekly (any volunteers to assist with this would be great)

The CAG League will consist of 3 tournaments and a regular season of play
of 12-16 games, 2 games against each Division team, 1 game vs. each team in
another division of the same conference+ at least 1 game vs. each other
division not played against.

The 1st Tournament will be held at EGC before the beginning of the regular
season. This Tournament is open to anyone even those outside the league.
Single elimination Bracket Style. $5 for League members, $10 for non league
members. 1st place wins a Bloodbowl trophy and 200,000gp, 2nd place gets
100,000gp and both receive an automatic bid to the bloodbowl tournament at
the end of the season. Special Bonus will be awarded to all who
participate.

The 2nd Tournament will be held at UU&A in the middle of the regular
season. This Tournament is open to anyone even those outside the league.
Single elimination Bracket Style. $5 for League members, $10 for non league
members. 1st place wins a Bloodbowl trophy and 200,000gp, 2nd place gets
100,000gp and both receive an automatic bid to the bloodbowl tournament at
the end of the season. Special Bonus will be awarded to all who
participate.

The 3rd and final Tournament will be held at ???????? At the end of the
regular season. This Tournament is by invite only, you must have earned
your spot by winning a previous tournament or win enough games.. Single
elimination Bracket Style. This Tournament is free. 1st place wins The
Bloodbowl trophy and 350,000gp, 2nd place gets 150,000gp . Special Bonus
will be awarded to all who participate.

Sounds good Sean. My only suggest would be to remove the onus on the stores to collect stats, and just have everything updated on this site. You could have a seperate topic for round, and have the matchups at the top of the thread.

I plan on having a seperate thread for stats and standings.
The stores will only hold the sheets until picked up...

Sorry, guess I'm not being very clear. You could have the players report the results of games to this forum, removing the paper work at the local store.

After a scary bit of fighting in the badlands the New Orcs heard of the new Bloodbowl league and High tailed it out of dodge. They have the skill and the will to fight... er play bloodbowl and look to prove it!

Originally Pirataz, these orks have heard that they can crack skullz and get far more loot playing Blood Bowl, and they don't have to worry about the Empire's frigate chasing them down! Unfortunately they're still a little unclear on the "Do not kill your opponent" and other subtle points of the game.

(I'll have to get back you ya on Ork namez, I'm not familiar enough with the NFL to be able to do any decent parodies. In the mean time here's a roster)

Another quick question: Which version of the rulez are we using. It appears that the box from GW comes with an older version. I would guess from your inclusion of an Ogre that you're using the 5th edition living rules?

The rulebook that comes with the game actually is the one i used to make the list, Orcs can take Ogres. We should be using the rules that are downloaded for free from the GW website... I will adjust accordingly. My ogre will be a troll... cause they seemed to have taken that away...

I'm not sure which version you've got, it appears that Ogres aren't in the V3 rules which I got from GW. Maybe it's V2? Anyway, I'm glad to know which set of rules we'll be following.

Scott and I had a lovely pre-season game at YottaQuest, and had a lovely time. Got a handle on the rules again, and I introduced him to the Most Important Rule of Blood Bowl:

* Move your turn marker before anything else or lose a re-roll

(Having fun in a distant second, just ask Scott! )

I usually let this sort of thing slide, but unfortunately moving the turn marker is pretty important in Blood Bowl. So it's a bit sadistic, but necessary. I think that I got to use 1 re-roll, and he didn't get to use any.

Yes, the Mordorks came thru 'hard knocks' training camp with only one injury... (and I did get to use one re-roll)

There seem to be many versions of the rules online (the GW one, the 'living' rulebook [which has updated paragraphs in red] plus the one in the box. I have the GW download one - cause I'm doing this on the cheap! I know that it has a totally different kickoff table than Andrews 'box' version. But they both seem viable.

Sorry dude, I don't remember seeing it in the rules that came with my boxed game. I didn't have access to it at work, but supposedly v3 comes with the boxes. I was wondering if I had missed something. Maybe they really had to search the warehouse for the copy you got?

So what's going on with the League? It's now the 22nd, and the schedule was supposed to go up on the 21st.

I currently only the three teams signed up. The other 8 are apparently waiting until the first night.

What's the first night please?

da MORDORKS are the brainchild of an ostentatious Bad Moons warboss "MB". He is loaded - and wants to be a high-class 'sports team owner'. He recruited some of the older, nastier Nobs & Boyz to make up his BloodBowl team. It features 'Lash' the quarterback, 'Mean Green Joe' the Black Ork Blocker and 'Plexiko' the Blitzer who refuses to let go of his handgun. They do not really know what they are doing - but they are keen to play and are exceedingly violent. Because of a badly mis-translated rulebook they have been practicing with a live pig (named 'Bal') which they prefer to an actual football. They tour in an old gold Battlewagon with a Snakebite Painboy (who injects them with squig steroids) and the Goff Rock Band "DeffSquig".'MB' has gotten them lots of product endorsements too - and now their sponsors' logos litter their bloodbowl pitch making it hard to see the lines...

da MORDORKS - a class act all around.

Tonight “officially” starts the preseason of the Bloodbowl league. Essentially any games played of Bloodbowl this weekend at a participating store (Eastside games & Cards & Up,Up,& Away) will be counted in preseason stats. The game can be played against non league members but the opposing team must spend $1,000,000 GP.
Turn the roster sheet and stat sheet in with the store to earn credit. The top stats players will earn a bonus for the season. Each stat must be recorded for each player and their number needs to be identified for future tracking.
The Stats to track are the following:
Scoring: only the player that enters the endzone with the ball
Rushing: Each square moved with the ball, including the square that was crossed before a fumble occurs if a fumble occurred.
Passing: Each square the ball passes over from the Thrower to the catcher
Tackles: Each tackle that successfully knocks an opponent down, even if he is knocked down. Only the tackling player gets the credit
Kills: Each opponent killed by a player. Only the offending player gets credit.
The regular season begins next Friday. Schedules will be released by Friday night. I will generate a generic schedule and as teams join they will take over the spots and games will be made up from then.
The 1st BloodBowl tournament will be announced shortly.

So, has this league already started? Will the players participating in the pre-season get SPP to start the league with? How about the tourney at the beginning? Also, is it too late to sign up?
